MyDiary Privacy Policy

This policy describes how MyDiary handles information in the mobile application, the permissions it uses, and how backup and recovery work when you choose online features.

About this Policy

This privacy policy (“Policy”) describes how My Diary (“My Diary”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, protects and uses personally identifiable information (“Personal Information”) you (“User”, “you” or “your”) may provide in the My Diary application and its products (collectively, “Mobile Application”).

This Policy does not apply to companies we do not own or control, individuals we do not employ or manage, or third-party applications, websites, products or features we do not control.

Permissions we use

Offline mode

MyDiary does not require internet access to create and use ordinary local notes in offline mode.

Online mode

When you choose online features such as Google Drive backup, the application requires internet connectivity. Android permissions may include:

  • android.permission.INTERNET — to access online features such as Google Drive backup.
  • android.permission.ACCESS_WIFI_STATE — to access network/Wi-Fi state where used by the application.

Personal Information

MyDiary does not operate a central service that collects your diary note content. Your notes are stored on your device. Profile information you choose to enter is used within the app experience.

Protection of information

MyDiary encrypts note information before it is stored on the user's phone. If you choose to connect Google Drive, encrypted database backups can be uploaded to your own Google Drive so that you have a recovery option if the phone is lost or replaced.

MyDiary uses recovery information (referred to in the app as a recovery certificate) as part of the process for restoring encrypted diary information. MyDiary does not operate a separate server for storing this recovery certificate.

Important: Keep your recovery certificate safe. It is sensitive recovery information. If the required recovery information is lost, restoring encrypted diary information may not be possible.

Google Drive backup

Google Drive backup is optional. When you connect and validate Google Drive, scheduled encrypted database backups may be uploaded to a visible MyDiary folder in your Google Drive. Google Drive is a third-party service and is governed by Google's own terms and privacy practices.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

MyDiary may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be made available on this page. We encourage users to review the page periodically for updates.
